The battles recommences and the Saxons push to finish the conflict. Coenred spies a chance not only to destroy the enemy’s resolve, but also to free Mildryth of the shadow that had fallen over her of late. If he succeeds then he will also exact some revenge on her part too. Mildryth is living with a presentiment of doom, however. Coenred survived the first battle without a wound, how could he be so lucky as to come from this encounter hale and hearty. In the heat of the battle, Coenred has only a mind to kill his enemies and , as a huscarl, he is more than ready to do that very thing.
