Having emerged from a period of relative creative inactivity, I find myself considering what to do next. I have two novels tentatively in the process of being written. One is about voluntary euthanasia and the other is an epic science fiction story; Should Iolos Fall. Neither are anywhere near finished. Euthanasia is a difficult subject to write about and some of the arguments, both for and against, need to be properly understood. I have always intended that this book, while favouring my own position on the subject, will not be a polemic; I want the reader to decide for themselves. As to the science fiction book, I have written quite a bit but there feels like there is something missing. The book has depth and various themes, but it is not working for me in some respects. While being inactive I have had several ideas, however, and I am going to go back to the draft and see if I can work them in. I have feeling that I will have to do a complete rewrite, but that is okay. I have never seen this as a chore. At its heart there is a good idea in this book, I just need to do more work to do it justice.
I have also started writing a serial for my blog. It is inspired by the work I did on my novel, Eugenica, but it is much more extreme. The environment is very dystopian, dark, and violent. In Eugneica, Grace and Tom find themselves in a government run facility that was beginning to turn into a death camp, well, this series takes that theme and expands it to cover an entire city. I do not pull any punches. I am not sure if there is any kind of saving grace in this series. Everyone in it so far appears to be brutal. Before it appears, I need to finish at least 50% of the episodes so that I will be able to post it regularly, and to completion, without putting myself under any undue pressure. I already have a title and I am currently working on a logo to give it a brand feel.
I am also writing a play that is much more light-hearted. The idea came to me a long time ago, but I have never written a play before and I am in a learning process as I write.
On the marketing front I have decided to try once again. I have found a company that seems promising. It is my intention to write a more in-depth piece once I have run a promotion through the company.
As spring begins to, well spring, I find myself returning to a more optimistic and active frame of mind. I hope you do as well.
