I decided to start a Facebook group called ‘East Riding Authors’, which, as the title suggests, is for authors who live and work in the East Riding of Yorkshire, or were born there and now find themselves in another part of the world. The group is not limited to authors only; it is also open to anyone who likes reading books.
My aim is to create a group in which authors of any genre and any status, that is independent or traditionally published, can connect and share advice and experiences, as well as promote their own work. It is a fledgling idea and not unique to me, but I though that I would give it a go as there was no such group in existence before yesterday.
If your interest is piqued, either as an author or a reader, then please use the link below. Requests to join the group will need to be approved first, which is simply a means to keep the spam to the minimum, but there are no questions to answer of pictures with traffic lights to click on. Hopefully, it will become a place where people will mix and share a common interest in literature and, for the writers at least, a common geographical location.
Sounds interesting. I live in Hull. Lol

It seems you do more than write; you are a musician as well! My idea behind East Riding Authors is to establish an online community of writers and readers that will, hopefully, become large enough to start organising events in the county where we can promote our work. There is something similar in Lincolnshire, which is what gave me the idea to be honest. I find marketing to be a chore, but Facebook literary groups do seem to be very popular so I thought that I might try creating one as a first step towards establishing a physical entity. If the idea interests you then please join the Facebook group, it is free, and promote your books. The guidelines are relaxed and I have no intention of getting heavy handed as I have had experience of that approach previously. I am merely trying to create something that benefits writers like ourselves.

Hope it works out for you. I don’t go on Facebook much, but will check it out and join the group.
