Having recently moved onto WordPress's Premium plan for a website I knew that I would have some work to do to make it look exactly how I wanted it to. The suggestion is that this is relatively easy, but it is not. Unlike the previous software package that I used, Serif WebPlus, WordPress themes and blocks are not WYSIWYG, that is: they are not What You See Is What You Get!
Moving Forward
Compromise is not always a comfortable situation when you feel even a little bit creative, in fact it always seems a little less than genuine to me
Cruising on P&O’s Arvia
During the first days of the cruise things on the Arvia seemed a little chaotic. We were told to use P&O’s ‘My Holiday’ app, but it was not working. The idea was that passengers used it to book dining and entertainment, but there were no clear guides on how to do this and the virtual queues were missing from the display. It was only towards the end of the holiday that we got to grips with it and I consider myself comfortable with technology. Some of the older passengers simply gave up and booked events the old fashioned way, just by turning up in person.
Back from My Travels
I have been away for a couple of weeks on my first foreign trip for three years. We went on a cruise from Southampton to the Western Mediterranean, visiting Spain and France
The Creative Spark
In many instances the world might not care, but so what? We care, that's why we invest time and effort in the creation, and it is we who get the feeling of accomplishment. That makes it all worthwhile because in that moment we feel alive
The Sorrow Song Trilogy – One Volume to Contain them All
I told my wife that I thought that The War Wolf was a good story; she looked at me as if I was an idiot and exclaimed, 'of course it is!' It's uplifting to have that kind of encouragement!
Happy Writing – Getting Going!
I have to admit that I thought taking early retirement would give me more time to do all the things that I want to do but the reality is that so far I have been too busy
Windows 11 for Free – No Thanks!
My PC runs very well on Windows 10 and does everything that I want it to do so I am sticking with it
The City of York: Anglo-Saxon Eoforwic or Viking Jorvik?
The City of York does very little to represent its Anglo-Saxon heritage, preferring to indulge the Vikings instead. The Roman period is well accounted for, along with the Latin name of Eboracum, as it lasted almost as long as the Anglo-Saxon period that followed it. However, the Anglo-Saxon name of Eoforwic is neither to be seen nor heard within the city walls.
Pomerania 11
As I have said previously, the book is not particularly organised, certainly not in comparison to my previous works. I honestly think that this is necessary to the type of novel that I am writing. It is intended to be a whimsical fantasy that is based to a large extent on my life experience
