The clock is ticking, but I choose not to hear it. I live in the moment where only being is important.
Life
New Road, New Life
Today is my last day actually working for my employer after more than 30 years. I do not officially finish until the end of the month but I will be on leave until then. It is quite a moment. I will be driving offsite without any kind of fanfare, which is what I wanted. The … Continue reading New Road, New Life
It is more than just a New Year, it is a New Life
I have never been that excited by the prospect of the new Year and all the social expectations that go with the change of a date, but this time I do feel a little different
A hiatus can be good for you and so can a change in direction
So far writing has been little more than a hobby, a very rewarding one intellectually speaking, but a little lean on the royalties if I am honest. Becoming a best-selling author is still a goal to be achieved and I am not giving up on it, I am, however, looking at alternative forms of writing other than penning novels. Now that my mind is made up on the issue, I am going to start looking at the kind of opportunities that exist out there, and which are largely unknown to me
A Little More Time Away
Life just has a way of intruding into your routines. My expectations for the past 6 or more weeks have certainly not been on track
Euthanasia – The Novel
Euthanasia is going to be the main theme of my next novel. Now that is decided the time has come to plan the book and begin the writing
The Question of Euthanasia; too Tricky?
I will be honest from the start; I support voluntary euthanasia. That said, I am not interested in writing a polemic on the subject. I cannot see too many people being interested in that approach. I want to write a serious book that looks at euthanasia in the form of a consideration of the arguments both for and against. Obviously, I will be tending towards one side rather than the other, but my plan is to do so sympathetically. It will not be a tub beating exercise.
How the Myth of Sisyphus relates to Me today
I have a very rare muscle condition, Myotonia Congenita. Of the two recognised variants I have Beckers's, which brings with it not just an impaired ability for my muscles to relax after contraction but also sudden and unexpected bouts of weakness, especially in my arms and legs. My symptoms are severe, but I do get … Continue reading How the Myth of Sisyphus relates to Me today
I Actually Quite Like Doing this Blog Thing!
Yet again an entire month has gone by without me writing anything for my blog. The usual reasons apply; busy, seasonal holidays, illness (nothing major, just man-flu), disappointments, etc. Nothing of any real note actually but all of which combine to frustrate me all the same, and it is the New Year again! I have … Continue reading I Actually Quite Like Doing this Blog Thing!
Sex; I haven’t done it!
I have not written about sex. There, I said it. I have written three novels and not one of them recounts a sexual encounter in any detail. It is not that I have lacked the opportunity, rather that I just that I did not take it, so to speak, when it arose in the story. … Continue reading Sex; I haven’t done it!
