Originally, I had intended the British Agent, Doc Hunter who appeared in my previous novel ‘Eugenica’, as the protagonist, but the more I wrote about Artemisia the more she pushed herself to the front. In the end, being a gentleman, I let her have her way.

Pomerania 8
The book is developing well, over 22,000 words written so far, but I am working in what I can only call a freeform style. I have a series of ideas that I want to write and a number of themes that I am going to explore, but at the moment there is no real plot.
The Queen of the Mountain Kingdom
The main story is simple, the King is dying, and his only heir is the Princess, but women cannot hold authority over men in the Kingdom of Oroson. It is not a clear-cut tale of good versus evil.
Eugenica
My book is written to be provocative and informative, not to mention to give people with disabilities an opportunity to shine in the spotlight, not as pathetic Tiny Tims or twisted King Richards, but as real people who can demonstrate the best of human qualities in the worst of human made situations
The Blade’s Fell Blow
In writing this trilogy of books I learnt a lot about the period and gained a new respect for the Saxons as a people. For some reason they always seem to play second fiddle to the Vikings but in many respects they were at very least the equal to their Norse enemies, if not also the superior of the two
Moby-Dick; or, The Whale
It is a curious fact that the book with one of literature's most famous opening lines, "Call me Ishmael!", was not even in print when the author, Herman Melville, died in 1891. It is also a fact that although many people believe that they know the story of Moby Dick, not so many have read … Continue reading Moby-Dick; or, The Whale
For Rapture of Ravens
The Battle of Stamford Bridge is more famous than the Battle of Fulford Gate, but it is still overshadowed by the Battle of Hastings, or Sentlache Ridge as the Saxons themselves knew it. I suppose that this is because the victors always get to write the history
Pomerania 5
The protagonist, who is called Charlie, meets a widely disparate population of characters in the strange place that he finds himself inhabiting. Each is representative of a theme that I want to explore, not all of them can be Greek. I want the diversity of humanity on display
The War Wolf
Thinking back to when I started writing this book, I have to admit that I did not know where I was going to go with it. My research into the period, and particularly 1066 itself, had revealed that there were three battles of significance in that year, but I was only aware of two of … Continue reading The War Wolf
Pomerania 4
Well, this has never happened to me before as a writer; my first draft has turned into a second draft all by itself!
