I am not one to do the whole 'New Year' thing. I do not make resolutions just because of a change in the calendar year. Yes, it is a new year, but I do not find anything intrinsically different about it and neither do I have any expectations of it proving to be fundamentally different to what has gone before just because it is 2022 and not 2021.

Not a New Year’s Resolution
The holidays are over, and it is the start of a new year. I have never seen the point of making resolutions simply because the calendar has changed to a new page. I believe that resolutions should be made as and when necessary. I have not made a New Year’s Resolution, but I have determined … Continue reading Not a New Year’s Resolution
This Fantasy Thing
Well, The Queen of the Mountain Kingdom (hereafter known as QMK) is almost finished. I expect to have the book published to Kindle this weekend. I will not be advertising the fact, however. My attention is going to be centred elsewhere for at least a week, other things are happening in my life, good things … Continue reading This Fantasy Thing
KENP – What is it good for?
KENP stands for Kindle Edition Normalized Pages. If an author enrols their book in KDP Select then Amazon customer who are members of either Kindle Unlimited (KU) or Kindle Owners Lending Library (KOLL) get to read that book at no further cost to themselves. Amazon pay royalty to the author based on how many pages … Continue reading KENP – What is it good for?
I Can’t Get No Satisfaction
I wish I had written the lyrics and not just used them for a title to this blog, but they belong to Messrs Jagger and Richards so I will have to be content with enjoying the song if not the sentiment. And the song is of course all about frustration. So is writing. In that … Continue reading I Can’t Get No Satisfaction
The Blade’s fell Blow
I set myself the target of October 2017 to publish the final part of the Sorrow Song Trilogy; The Blade’s fell Blow. I do not normally impose deadlines on myself, I know from past experience that I do not work well with them. This is partly because I have a medical condition that reacts to … Continue reading The Blade’s fell Blow
Torn Between Two Books
Gosh! Another enforced hiatus. I really did not think that it had been so long but it has. I have used the excuse of suffering the curse of living a busy life previously, I know, but it is true. Things just seem to get forgotten about. That is both a little disappointing and frustrating, however. … Continue reading Torn Between Two Books
Eugenica is finished!
Well, as finished as a book ever can be while the author is still alive. What I mean by that is that I am sure I will find some fault with it and go back and start messing around just like George Lucas (only with better results I hope). I have submitted the book to … Continue reading Eugenica is finished!
It’s a Milestone not a Millstone
Writing a book is a long process. I know that Edgar Wallace was reputed to have turned out entire novels in only 2 or 3 days but then he never actually sat and wrote them, rather he dictated them onto wax cylinders and left them for secretaries to type up. He also rarely edited his … Continue reading It’s a Milestone not a Millstone
Formatting from Word ‘doc’ to EPUB
I have finished formatting the manuscript of ‘For Rapture of Ravens’. As e-readers use the ‘EPUB’ file format I decided to invest some time in using the ‘Sigil’ program. Previously I had simply loaded a Word copy of my manuscript but after I revised the original draft and loaded up a new version I was … Continue reading Formatting from Word ‘doc’ to EPUB
