Under the Weather

Typical! Just when I finally get the time to get moving on the things that I have been planning for months, I go and catch a cold! It is not just a cold, however. Unfortunately for me, because of the Myotonia congenita that stops my muscles from relaxing after exertion, any kind of respiratory infection tend to be more than ‘just colds’. A sudden cough or sneeze can result in pulled muscles, torn muscle fibre or cramp. Also, because the onset is sudden and unplanned, my muscles can just stiffen up and effectively freeze in mid-cough or sneeze, meaning it does not always complete the intended action, which often proves painful and is never very pretty.

My muscles have to work harder to do what most people take for granted, walking, standing up, climbing the stairs, that sort of thing. When they are tasked to do even more, like dealing with a cold, I tire much more quickly. This is really inconvenient when you are beginning your plans to conquer the world as an author. I launched my online webstore for my books yesterday. I intended to bombard social media with adverts to announce the fact, but I have barely managed to do anything. However, today I am feeling better than I did yesterday and, hopefully, the same will be true tomorrow. With any luck I will be back to my version of normal very soon.

Watch out world, I am still coming!
